Casey Powell’s win-win Boston weekend

Cannons Head Coach Bill Daye & Casey Powell before Friday mornings clinic is Waltham

Casey Powell put a clinic on in Boston this weekend.  Twice.

Normally this phrase is used when a player dominates a game and is the best player on the field.  Or it is the literal term when a player instructs young kids on how to play the game.  Well, this weekend it was both.  Lax legend Casey Powell came to Boston and had 2 great days.

On Friday, Powell teamed up with Cannons Head Coach Bill Day and to put on a clinic for kids at Waltham High School.  After all the rain the past 2 weeks, an outside lax clinic seemed impossible.  Yet Friday morning came, and the sun was beaming in Waltham.  A beautiful field turf glistened as 100 local kids showed up on their day off from school to learn from 2 of the best.

Friday was just a warm-up for Powell and he and the Orlando Titans took on the Boston Blazers at the TD Garden on Saturday Night with a battle of 1st place vs. 2nd place.  Powell, who had many of his students from Friday in the stands, put on another clinic for all in attendance at the TD Garden.  Powell scored 2 goals in the 1st quarter, 1 in the 3rd and 1 in the 4th as the Titans solidified their lead in the Eastern Conference with a 13-10 win over the Blazers.
