Rabil leads USA

Sweeney is showing the magic touch in England

The Boston Cannons Paul Rabil tallied a hat trick in the first quarter for Team USA against Team England in pool play of the 2010 World Lacrosse Championships. Rabil added two assists.

The Cannons Kyle Sweeney must be enjoying his time abroad as he scored his 4th goal in 4 games. To put that in perspective, this season for the Cannons it has taken Sweeney 9 games to record 4 goals. Team USA is using Sweeney in transition more and he’s capitalizing.

So far in Pool Play Team USA has victories over Australia, England and Germany all by comfortable margins. Its lone loss came at the hands of 2006 Gold Medal Winner Canada by a score of 10-9

Team USA has outscored its opponents 69-24.

Team USA faces a surprising Japanese squad that upset Australia and is in contention to advance to the medal rounds. That game is at 8:30 am ET.

The Semi-Finals and Championship game will be held Thursday and Saturday. You can check out the Championship game live on ESPNU at 11 am ET…can’t think of a better way to get in the mood for the Cannons big home game that night at 7 at Harvard Stadium!

Remember, Matt Poskay is gearing up to break a plethora of Cannons single-season and career records this Saturday, July 24th and the Cannons can clinch a playoff berth with a win!

See you there!
